Heddon Underwater MinnowHeddon Underwater MinnowHave you ever seen Heddon’s 150 Underwater Minnow?

You would know it if you saw it. The five-hook Underwater Minnow was probably the longest running production lure in Heddon’s history.

It will be on display and discussed at the antique tackle collectors informal gathering at the Heddon Museum Dec. 10 at 6:30 p.m.

The get-together of lure collectors is open to the public and held at the former Heddon factory at 414 West St. in Dowagiac, Mich. The Museum is located two blocks north and two blocks west of the Mc Donald's.

The Underwater Minnow was in production from 1904-1978 and was always made of wood. Millions of these lures were produced and many can still be found in tackle boxes today. Because of the large number of lures that were manufactured, the 150 isn’t a very rare lure yet the five-hook minnow still holds a strong following with collectors of old fishing tackle.

The older glass-eyed 150’s are the most sought after examples and are worth from $50 to $200, depending on the color and condition.

The color of the lure in the photograph is rainbow and has glass eyes.

Today, the 150 wouldn’t be legal to use for fishing because of the excessive hooks.
