Go ahead and drool bass anglers.
One lucky angler has broken Michigans 109-year-old smallmouth bass record.
Gregory L. Gasiciel caught a 9.33-pound fish from Hubbard Lake in Alcona County Oct. 18 on a green grub. It was caught at 3:15 p.m.
The fish measured 24.50 inches. It was verified by DNR Fisheries Biologist Kathrin Schrouder.
The previous record was 9.25 pounds (27.25 inches) and was caught from Long Lake in Cheboygan County in 1906.
We hope to provide more details on the catch soon.
