Father/Son Team Wins Polar Bear Opener at Klinger Lake; Next Event at 6 SpanFather/Son Team Wins Polar Bear Opener at Klinger Lake; Next Event at 6 Span

The Polar Bear Circuit kicked off its third season at Klinger Lake last Saturday with the father/son team of TJ and Duane Friddle winning $300 for their five fish weighing 9.38 pounds.

The event drew 21 teams that enjoyed the crisp, fall weather with temperatures topping out in low 50’s and winds of 5-10 mph.

Participating teams definitely found different ways to catch fish Saturday. Quite a few individuals reported fish being caught in 4-6 feet while others were out a bit deeper in 10-15 feet of water. Blade baits, jerkbaits, Ned rigs, A-rigs and drop shots seemed to yield the best results.

The ever popular “critter pot” was won by Andrew Miller who took home $100 for his .48-pound perch!

The next Polar Bear open will be held at Six Span in Elkhart Nov. 10th starting at 7:30 a.m. For more details, see the Lake Drive Marine Events Calendar adjacent to this page.
