IDNR Report

Indiana DNR has launched a new interactive website that allows hunters of wild turkey to access spring turkey harvest data as it is accumulated by the state.

Data is supplied by the CheckIN Game harvest reporting system. During the check-in process, hunters report the county of harvest and type of equipment used to harvest turkey. Harvest data is updated daily during the spring turkey season.

This data can now be accessed and viewed at /www.in.gov/dnr/fishwild/10340.htm, where visitors can also compare information regarding individual or multiple counties across the past five years. Hunters have asked for more detailed harvest data and comparisons between years, and creation of this new website is a direct result of that feedback to DNR. A fall turkey harvest website will be available at a later date. To view all DNR news releases, please see dnr.IN.gov.

Michigan’s spring turkey season is still a go and the state has leftover licenses available.

The season opens April 18. To check drawing results and purchase a license, visit Michigan.gov/Turkey.

The DNR encourages hunters to remember to avoid traveling long distances, maintain social distancing and wash hands often.

Reserved turkey hunt procedures will change on participating DNR fish & wildlife areas (FWAs) for selected turkey hunters completing their hunt registration this year, as a result of COVID-19.

The changes will allow turkey hunting to continue on FWAs while maintaining social distancing practices.†Selected turkey hunters will be mailed date-specific hunting permit cards for their hunt period as well as a parking permit.

FWA offices will be closed to the public; however, the selected turkey hunters will still need to sign in each day at a property self-serve check-in booth before hunting. Hunters must maintain a minimum distance of 6 feet between each other while signing in. Both youth-season and regular-season turkey hunters will use the same procedures.
