Lake Erie legend, Heath Wagner, shows how to catch big pre-spawn walleye on Lake Erie. We launched from Catawba State Park in Ohio. Rapala Jigging Rap and Buckshot lures tipped with minnows were used between 27-28 feet of water to catch big walleye. After locating walley on the fish finder, a Helix 12, we dropped our baits to them.
The water was just 37 degrees, but the walleye were active and on the move. Strong north winds two days prior made the southern shore muddy, which turned off the trolling bite.
