Early fall bass fishing on Lake Maxinkuckee (Culver, Indiana) was tough until I discovered the schooling fish in deep water. After struggling for over a day, diving birds clued me into what needed to be done. Once located, we loaded the boat with largemouth and smallmouth bass on umbrella rigs. Finding the baitfish was key.
