Cabin fever getting you down? There are plenty of cures this weekend.

In addition to ice fishing opportunities improving daily, there are fun things to do indoors as well.

You’ve got the Michiana Boats and Sports Show at the South Bend Century Center all weekend, the Dowagiac Conservation Club (DCC) Hunter’s Rendezvous on Saturday and the DCC’s annual squirrel hunting contest Sunday.

Conflicts between lake residents and anglers have been a problem for decades.

Lake residents claim ownership of a lake and you can’t blame them. They bought property and live along its shore. They have a vested interest.

On the other hand, lakes with public access are public lakes. A resident’s ownership includes the lake bottom while the water is a public entity. We have to share and try to respect each other’s space.
