D&R Sports Center will host its annual Spring Fishing Show Friday and Saturday with a stellar lineup of seminar speakers.
If Matt Arey’s boat number at this year’s Bassmaster Classic is any indication of good things to come, then #22 might just lead to first place. Arey is the ultimate ‘girl dad’ and his two young daughters love Taylor Swift’s hit song “22”.
Jacob Wheeler set out to develop a new swimbait with the product engineers at Rapala, but he didn’t want a situational tool – he wanted a soft swimbait that would catch fish from coast to coast, 12 months out of the year.

(Editors note: Southwest Michigan deer hunter Pat Kleppert has chronicled his hunting season in a region plagued by the EHD virus.)
This season has been a struggle. The lack of older bucks and does makes it tough to motivate myself to get up early and climb into a tree every day.
I haven't hunted as much as I had hoped and that is certainly due to the lack of deer here in eastern Cass County. While there are deer being harvested in my area, the numbers are way down. I stopped at Scott's Deer Processing in Jones and he said that his numbers are certainly down from previous years. He did have a few in the cooler and some ready to smoke.

In summer 2013, about 5,000 catfish will earn release from federal prison in Terre Haute.
Thats right, catfish.
In a partnership between the Indiana Department of Natural Resources and the Federal Bureau of Prisons, inmates at Terre Hautes Federal Correctional Complex (FCC) will raise channel catfish for DNRs new urban fishing program and walleyes for selected northern Indiana lakes.
The cooperative project serves two purposesincreasing fishing opportunities for Indiana anglers and providing education and long-term training for inmates.
