D&R Sports Center will host its annual Spring Fishing Show Friday and Saturday with a stellar lineup of seminar speakers.

The Jitterbug was among Fred Arbogast’s signature creations and now a few iconic anglers are putting their signature on the Jitterbug as part of a collaborative effort to mark Arbogast’s election this year to the Bass Fishing Hall of Fame.
Indianas waterfowl season opens Saturday (Oct. 20) in the North Zone and runs through Dec. 9 for ducks and Nov. 11 for Canada geese. Goose hunters may take three a day, while duck hunters can take six, but may not include more than 4 mallards (2 females max), 3 wood ducks, 2 pintails, 1 black, 2 redheads, 1 canvasback or 4 scaup.
The local Pheasants Forever 8th Annual Youth Pheasant Hunt and Conservation Day will be held next Saturday for area youths.
The free event will be held at the Maier Pheasant Farm in Bremen from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be two separate groups, with the first between 8 and 1 and the second 11 to 4.
Each participant will have 2 pheasants placed in the field and dogs and guides will be provided. There also will be workshops in firearms safety, trap shooting, and game calling. Activities also include a .22 rifle shooting competition, archery, fishing and youths will be taught how to clean the birds. Birds will be bagged to take home.
