The 41st annual Hoosier Coho Club Classic, the Midwest's longest-running salmon tournament, will be held in Michigan City May 1-3.

The two-day tournament awards $50,000 in prizes and features a $10,000 check to the Professional Division winning team. Entry fee is $475 for the Pro Division and $225 for the Amateur Division.

A Hoosier Coho Club-sponsored team from the Michigan City High School Fishing Club will participate in weekend events that kick off the Michigan City Summer Fest.

Some 70-plus fishing boats in the Coho Classic will blast-off from within one-half mile of the Lighthouse at 7 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. SundayĆ­s weigh-in will be at 2 p.m. in Washington Park.

A tune-up tournament, the Hartman Memorial, will be held Friday.

The 2015 Classic will be featured as the opening episode in the 13-part Salmon Showdown television series which airs nationwide in January.
