Larry Stanley (Kendallville) and Dave Terry (Albion) used tube jigs (green pumpkin) and drop-shot rigs with Twitchtail Minnows (green pumpkin) to win the R&B Bass Circuit West Division Opener on Lake Maxinkuckee.

The winners caught a limit weighing 11.66 pounds off the main lake, including the big bass of the event, a 3.03-pound smallmouth. They made one key cull in the last hour with a largemouth taken off a bed. They were awarded $713 for the victory and $272 for the big fish.

Matt Hoffer (Hamlet) and Ryan Gray (Plymouth) put together a 10.84 pound limit to score $446 for second. They rotated through five areas using tubes and Erie Darters on flats. The key to these spots were small weed beds growing just 6-12 inches off the bottom.

The team of John Gipson, Jr. (Battle Ground, Ind.) and Tom Noe (Benton Harbor) bagged a 10.25-pound limit of spawning fish to win $267. They tricked their fish with homemade jigs tipped with Missile Baits D Bomb Trailers and drop-shot rigs with Missile Baits Drop Craws.
