Bass fishing fans who want to see their heroes in action will have more than 250 hours of video to watch in the new season. The 2018 programming schedule for the Bassmaster Classic and Bassmaster Elite Series released by ESPN this week includes 30 hours of television and 222 hours of streamed content during tournament competition.
Television airing on ESPN2 begins at 7 a.m. ET March 31 with the first of 10 hours of coverage of the GEICO Bassmaster Classic presented by DICK'S Sporting Goods, which is being held March 16-18 on Lake Hartwell, South Carolina. The Classic championship episode begins at 10 a.m. ET April 1.
Classic LIVE, the innovative live-stream, on-the-water coverage pioneered by JM Associates at the Greenville Classic in 2015, kicks off at 8 a.m. ET March 16, just after the first-round takeoff of the Classic. LIVE will be streamed for six hours per competition day on ESPN3 and the ESPN App, as well as Bassmaster.com.

Indy Fishing LeagueThe Major League Fishing concept is coming to Michiana as part of the Indy League Fishing (ILF).
Lake Drive Marine will be the title sponsor of two Michiana qualifying series that kicks off in early April and could earn anglers berths in the Kahlo Cup held near the end of the year.
Lake Drive Marine, located in Coldwater, Mich., ran a “test” event last fall and it was an overwhelming success. The event was won by South Bend native Greg Mangus of Fremont, Ind.
“Everyone said it was the most exciting format they had ever fished,” said Lake Drive Marine President Jeff Uetrecht. “Based upon that excitement and overwhelming interest, we decided to sponsor two more qualifying series and an invitational this year.”
The field for the two series will be limited to 24 in each series and Uetrecht expects the events to fill up within a couple of weeks.

The final stop of the Polar Bear Opens on the Waldron Chain at Duke’s Bridge proved to offer the best of everything for the 2017 season.
We had our season’s best turnout with 19 boats plus our season’s best weight of 14.44 pounds, our season’s biggest critter a 14.90-pound carp, and by far the best weather we had all year with temperatures moving into the mid-40s with a manageable west wind and blue sunny skies.
The temperature hovered around 25 degrees as we arrived at the ramp, and fortunately, I grabbed a bag of ice melt beforehand and repeatedly sprinkled the ramp so nobody had a hard time launching.
Fog rolled in during the 8:00 a.m. start and temperatures came up slowly, putting us around 30 degrees at start time. The water temperature was around 40 degrees and, depending on what areas of the lake you fished, it ranged from muddy to just a little stained.

Ten teams showed up for the third stop in the Polar Bear Open on Lake Maxinkuckee despite it being the deer gun season opener.
The day began with mild temperatures in the 40s and a mist in the air, but that turned into rainy down pours, storms and wind gusts to 30 mph.
The fish didn’t seem to care as the top finishing teams reported catching limits early. Some teams reported catching 15 to as many as 30 bass throughout the day.
