Shimano Antares 100 BaitcasterShimano Antares 100 BaitcasterShimano has introduced Antares baitcast reels into North America for anglers looking for the ultimate long-distance casting fishing tool.

Designed for bass and other freshwater fishing techniques, the Antares series offers Shimano’s newest innovations in baitcasting reels, including its Micro Module gear system and SVS Infinity brake system.

The four reel series includes the 100 and left-hand 101 models with a 5.6:1 gear ratio, retrieving in 26-inches of line per crank and the 100HG and 101H reels with a quick 7.4:1 gear ratio that crank in nearly 34-inches of line per handle turn.

The Micro Module gear system takes Shimano’s technology another step forward by reducing the size yet still increases the number of gear teeth on the pinion and drive gear.

Shimano’s SVS Infinity brake system (also found on the new Chronarch CI4+ reels) controls spool speed for precision casting especially when using lighter lures. An external adjustment knob provides for quick, precise adjustments for either the conditions or when you switch. Anglers will also experience the advantages of X-Ship technology that provides better gear durability and adds to casting distance with lighter lures.

Added features to the Antares baitcasting reels include a ‘G Free Spool II,’ a large diameter, ultra-light Magnesium spool, and a cone-shaped level wind guide to reduce line friction to maximize casting distance and performance.

All four Antares reels (7.93 ounces each) have 10 S A-RB (anti-rust) ball bearings in strategic locations plus a one-way roller bearing for no handle back play. They’ll handle from 200 yards of 6-pound mono to 120 yards of 10 pound.
