Luhr-Jensen’s Flash Fly Twinkie Rig for Salmon Anglers

Take the best features of three hot salmon lures, roll them into one and what develops is an irresistible fusion called the Luhr-Jensen Jensen Flash Fly Twinkie Rig, an artificial lure designed for sometimes maddeningly difficult game fish — Chinook, Coho, Chum, Pink Salmon and trophy-size Trout.

New for 2019, the Jensen Flash Fly Twinkie Rig may well reset the bar for trolling in salt or fresh water. Developed on the water by our professional fishing staff, the Jensen Flash Fly Twinkie Rig incorporates the natural scent, taste and appeal of live baitfish, with the tantalizing rolling action of a Cut Bait Head, and colorful sparkle attraction of a twinkle skirt flash fly. Prototypes have proven to be deadly combinations for Salmon and Trout trollers.

This rig can be fished with a natural bait spinner-cut fillet inserted into the Cut Bait Head and secured with a built-in pin, inside the fluttering legs of a Luhr-Jensen Flash Fly. It is also exceptionally productive without natural bait, thanks to the built-in rolling action of the Cut Bait Head, with the glitter and sonic vibration of the Flash Fly.

The rigging and quality materials included in each Jensen Flash Fly Twinkie Rig package are major reasons for this technique’s consistent success.

The Jensen Flash Fly Twinkie Rig is threaded onto 72 inches of crystal clear 40-pound Sufix fluorocarbon leader with exceptional shock absorption and abrasion resistance. Flash Flies are constructed of layered Everglo skirting and flash tinsel with sturdy arrow-shaped heads and 3D eyes. Anglers have the option of using long-shank VMC® treble hooks or siwash style single hooks.

The Cut Bait Head and Flash Fly are rigged free-sliding on the fluorocarbon leader above the hook, which improves hook-up rates and reduces leverage that strong fish can use to pull free. Connecting the mainline to the leader with a high-quality Luhr-Jensen Swivel Chain reduces line and leader twists. Leader length can be modified to accommodate a full range of flasher/dodger sizes and leader length recommendations.

This highly versatile lure performs best trolled at 1-to-4 mph behind a Dipsy Diver, Jensen Dodger or Coyote Flasher. The Flash Fly and Cut Bait Head are packaged in seven matching UV enhanced colors that imitate dominate baitfish prey in most regions. Sliding Flash Flies also come in eight additional colors that can be substituted for the packaged pattern.
