Anglers are invited to a Lake Michigan yellow perch summit in Chicago on March 22.

Participants can attend in person or via webinar.

The goal of the summit is to provide a forum where anglers from Lake Michigan states and fishery managers can exchange information.

Fishery managers from the Indiana DNR Division of Fish & Wildlife, Illinois, Wisconsin and Michigan and tribal jurisdictions will present the public with the latest information on yellow perch in Lake Michigan and efforts to improve and manage perch fishing. Anglers and anyone else with an interest in Lake Michigan can comment on the information and offer input.

Discussion topics include the lake's changing ecology and its effect on perch populations and fishing, and information on regulations.

The summit is being hosted by the Lake Michigan Committee of the Great Lakes Fishery Commission. The commission coordinates fisheries management among state, provincial, tribal and federal management agencies in the United States and Canada.

The event is from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. CDT at the UIC Forum, 725 W. Roosevelt Road, Chicago.

The event is free for anyone who registers before March 15. Late registration will be available for $20 the day of the summit.

Whether attending in person or through the webinar, participants should register online at glfc.org/lakecom/yp or by phone at (847) 294-4134. Webinar registrants will receive URL information via email at a later date.
