If you want to sample fishing without a license this year, mark your calendars with free fishing dates for Indiana and Michigan.

Indiana’s dates are May 12, June 1-2 and Sept. 28. However, it applies only to Indiana residents. Out-of-state residents must still purchase a fishing license. Also, all other regulations remain intact.

Michigan is different and far more liberal. Its dates are Feb. 17-18 and June 8-9. Non-residents are included and no recreation passport is required to visit Michigan boat launches or state parks.
