Eben Lambert and Lee Eby found a couple of Juno’s big fish and walked away with the Southwest Michigan Anglers Club (SMAC) Tuesday nighter.

The winners had a limit weighing 12.46 pounds – all caught on jerkbaits. They not only had big bass of the event, a 4.78 pounder, but their sack included a 3 pounder as well.

Bill Mathews and Kris Iodice hauled in a 4.13-pound largemouth that helped carry them to the win in the Starboard Choice Big Bass Challenge Tourney on Diamond Lake.

A four-pounder is huge at Diamond and gave the winners ($370) a limit weighing 12.43 pounds. They caught their fish on Senkos and topwater lures shallow. The big bass earned them another $85.

Ken Holder and Aaron Brubaker were second ($240) with 10.50 caught on Senkos while Dan and Joe DiMarzio were third ($180) with 10.42.

Another $85 was added to the Classic fund with four tournaments remaining and time for anglers to qualify for the Classic and a shot at winning two of Starboard Choice’s Garmin electronics.

Tackle Shack sponsors Brendon Sutter and Andrew Miller provided Arjay’s competitors with refreshments and extra prizes in last week’s week-night event on Klinger, and then walked away as tournament winners.

Sutter and Miller had five fish weighing 9.46 pounds, caught on drop-shot rigs and deep crankbaits in 25 feet of water.

The event attracted 29 teams yet only four limits were caught.

Casting Couples Report

Edison Prendi and Zach Shumerski (Fraser, MI.) caught 19.7l pounds to win the Casting Couples Open at Lake St. Clair last weekend.

The group normally requires teams to consist of a male and female, but this event was open to anyone.

SMAC Report

Less than a pound separated first from fifth place in the Southwest Michigan Anglers Club (SMAC) tournament on Diamond Lake last weekend.

There were 30 boats in the field and 13 teams weighed limits.

Chuck Powell and Louie Stout eked out the victory with a limit weighing 9.39 pounds. They caught their fish in 20 feet or more on Strike King Dream Shot drop-shot rigs and lead head jigs rigged with Strike King Menaces.

Mason Swem and Lane Herman were second with five weighing 9.38 pounds caught on frogs and Senkos. They also had big bass, a 2.88-pound largemouth, caught on a frog.

Ken Tucker and Travis Terry were third with 9.31 caught on Senkos while Brett Gessinger and Mike VanderReyden were fourth with 9.05 caught on drop-shot rigs.

Fifth place went to Bill Mathews and Chris Iodice with 8.85 pounds.
