When World Champion bass angler Jacob Wheeler partnered with the design and engineering experts at Rapala to create the CrushCity™ lineup of soft plastics, he knew that they’d have to produce distinctive and superior features to stand out in the crowded lure marketplace.

“When you watch a craw kick back and scoot away to try to get out of an area, it has this unique undulating action, and that is exactly what the Bronco Bug does,” Wheeler said. “It’s the most realistic craw-like bait I’ve ever seen.” A big part of that ultra-realism stems from the recoiling action when the lure hits the bottom. The legs come forward, hit the head, bounce back and forth and then return to the resting position.

What sets the Bronco Bug apart from the competition is a perfect level of body thickness, which allows an angler to Texas rig a hook to keep it snagless, while allowing for easy penetration of the hook. It features a dolphin-like swimming action and a “Bronco Buck” kick when jigged.

The body of the bait has raised ribs on each side to hide the hook point, meaning that when one side of the bait starts to show wear, the hook can be flipped without compromising any action, thereby increasing durability and efficiency.

Furthermore, “the appendages are facing upward,” which means they’ll create a disturbance larger than that of the overall package and remain quivering with the slightest bit of current or angler manipulation.
