Area Restaurant Hosts “Bassmaster Classic Night”

Beef 'O'Brady in Granger will host its 6th Annual Bassmaster Classic party night Feb. 23.
The restaurant will stream live coverage of the final round of the Bassmaster classic on its 50-inch flat screen television beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Anglers are encouraged to bring their fishing tackle for trade or sale and tournament groups should have 2014 fliers to pass out.
The restaurant will have specials and offer free serving of chips and salsa for anglers. Door prizes will be given away.

The First Bassmaster Classic Boat

If you don’t think bass boats have come a long way, check out this interesting video about a man who purchased and restored one of the first Bassmaster Classic boats ever used in a BASS championship.
Years ago, B.A.S.S. provided identically matched rigs for Classic contenders to use during the tournament and those boats were sold afterwards. (Today, Bassmaster Classic contenders use their own boats.)
The $4,000 “Rebel Fastback” boat rigged with a 90-HP Mercruiser inboard/outboard was the first Classic Boat offered. Avid, North Carolina bass angler Doyle Hodgin stumbled onto one by accident one day, bought it and restored it. This fascinating video tells the story behind the boat, old classic photos and illustrates the restoration process.
