New Michigan Muskie/Pike Regs Take Effect April 1

The Michigan DNR announced that new muskellunge and northern pike regulations will go into effect for all anglers on April 1. In Michigan, only one muskellunge (including tiger muskellunge) may be harvested per season per angler.
Anglers who would like to harvest muskellunge must have a new muskellunge harvest tag that’s now available. Anglers are not required to obtain this harvest tag to fish for muskellunge; it’s only for those anglers that intend to harvest a muskellunge.

Even though you may not know him, the expertise he has passed along to generations of local anglers has somehow made it into your tackle box.
Sadly, the Michiana fishing legend from Elkhart was laid to rest this week after an extended illness at the age of 71.
The rest of us geezers will remember him as one of the region’s fiercest bass tournament competitors and a guy who just loved fishing.
