Young Deer Hunter Hangs Upside Down Until Help Arrives

A young Warsaw deer hunter is lucky to be alive after surviving a freak accident when his tree stand gave out and left him hanging upside down on the Tri County Fish and Wildlife Area in Kosciusko County last week.
Clarence "Daven" Gasaway’s deer stand broke causing him to fall backwards and become stuck upside down in the remaining foot platform of his stand for 30 minutes.
The quick response of local and state officials likely saved Gasaway from serious injury or even death, as hanging upside down for an extended period can cause loss of consciousness and asphyxia if left in this position for too long.

A 12-inch Great Lakes muskie raised by Michigan DNR.Michigan’s muskellunge program turned a huge corner recently as the second crop of Great Lakes muskies produced at a Department of Natural Resources hatchery was distributed across Great Lakes in early November.
The DNR has been raising muskellunge (for stocking) at state fish hatcheries for decades, but had always used northern muskies, one of two strains native to Michigan, for broodstock – the mature male and female fish that are kept separate for breeding purposes.
This is the second year the DNR produced strictly Great Lakes muskies.
