Farver/Kline Jig Their Way to R&B Win on WawaseeFarver/Kline Jig Their Way to R&B Win on Wawasee

Mark Farver (Goshen) and Steve Kline (Albion) beat 48 teams with their 12.11-pound limit to claim $620 in the R&B Circuit opener on Lake Wawasee recently. They were just 1 of 6 teams to weigh a five- fish limit.

The previous day they had located two schools of fish in 8-10 feet of water. Their three biggest bass fell victim to jigs while their two smaller keepers bit Erie Darters.

Michiana superstars Greg Mangus (Fremont) and Kevin Fletcher (Elkhart) were the only other team to seize a double digit weight, 10.60 pounds, and were awarded $370 for their efforts.

The team caught a whopping 20 keepers! Fish were caught in water 4-6 feet deep on Mango Magic colored Erie Darters. Several areas produced, but the best had a gradual slope with deeper water nearby.

Darwin "Bear" Griva (Angola) and Mike Klavinski (Hudson) put together an 8.98-pound limit to win $275. Despite water temperature in the low 40's, they employed traditional pre-spawn baits - lipless crankbaits and jigs in water less than five feet deep to rack up 12 keepers.
