Korey Sosalla and new member Jeff Lanthier won the Michiana Walleye Association tournament on the St. Joseph River at Maggies Landing last weekend.
Fishing was sporadic, according to members, but those anglers who could keep their lines clean of debris and kept the bluegill and rock bass from biting were able to bring some nice fish to the scales.
The winners found their four keepers by pulling worm harnesses and working jigs around structure. Their bag weighed in at 6.79 pounds.
Second place went to Tom Wilson and Ron Dutoi with 3.93 pounds and had the biggest walleye of the event, a 2.60 pounder.
The tournament was the last regular season event of the year and the club will finish up the season with a two-day fall classic September 17th and 18th. Day one will be held at Winona Lake and the day two location will be voted on by the anglers. Anyone who fished a regular season tournament is welcome to fish the Classic.
