KINGSTON, ONTARIO - This city will again host the Kingston Ontario Open bass tournament July 25-27 on Lake Ontario.
Eighty top celebrity and professional anglers from Canada and the United States, along with 80 co-anglers, will gather to battle for three consecutive days in a unique Pro/Am format where pros and their non-boating partners combine their daily weight in pursuit of the nations most prestigious title in tournament fishing and to raise money for The Kingston Military Family Resource Centre (KMFRC).
The Canadian Open will team pro anglers with different co-anglers each day for the three-day competition on Lake Ontario. This unique format encourages the pros to share their hard-earned knowledge, with their co-anglers each day.
Tournament Director Andrew Pallotta said the tournament is a once-in-a-lifetime experience to compete in a tournament to learn from the best and maybe win thousands of dollars in prizes. The Pro provides the boat and the know-how; the co-angler just has to focus on fishing.
The Pros will be competing for a 127% return on investment in cash prizes, which will exceed $100,000, as this years winning pro angler will walk away with $30,000 in cash. This years top co-angler will receive a $16,000 boat package and co-anglers will compete for a very impressive list of prizes valued at well over $50,000.
This years event will support The Kingston Military Family Resource Centre (KMFRC). KMFRC is a registered non-profit, charitable organization that supports and enhances the health and well being of the military community. Last years tournament generated $17,000 for the Centre.
The Kingston Canadian Open of Fishing tournament will be run by the Competitive Sport Fishing League (CSFL). Registration fees are $1,000 for Pro Anglers and $750 for Amateurs/Non-boaters. To register please contact the CSFL at Tel: 905-640-2277; Fax: 905-640-2278; E-mail: bassmania@on.aibn.com.
