Brian Whitaker of Winona Lake, Ind. won The Bass Federation State Championship on Lake Wawasee last weekend.
Whitaker caught 10 bass that weighed 18.73 pounds in the two-day event, edging out Mark Lester of Albany, Ind. who had 10 weighing 17.68 pounds.
Whitaker will lead the 12-man state team into the TBF Northern Division Championship on the Ohio River in Wheeling, Va. Sept. 1-6.
The Indiana team will compete against teams from South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan and Ohio. The top two finishers from each state will earn berths in next year’s National Championship.
