Not only did the couples in the Casting Couples opener start on a 30-degree morning, but the bite at Pine and Stone lakes was tough.
Despite a cold start in the morning, the catch was pretty good in the Tackle Shack season opener at Lake Maxinkuckee.
St. Croix Rod expands the angler-favorite Mojo Musky lineup with three all-new longer models – a 10’ heavy power JOMFG100HF2, a 10’ extra-heavy power JOMFG100XHF2, and a 10’6” heavy power JOMFG106HF2. All are two-piece with a 70/30 split that places the junction low in the stiffer section of the rod.

In all likelihood, Michigan bass anglers will be given the opportunity to fish for bass year-round next year, but the harvest season will remain pretty much the same.
The trouble is, we wont know until early next April when the Natural Resources Commission casts the deciding vote.
The Future of Michigan bass regs have been up in the air all year.
Currently, the state offers a catch-and-release only season that opens the last Saturday in April and runs until its harvest season opens Memorial Day weekend in late May.
Anglers have pushed hard for a more liberal season so the DNR decided to open it up for discussion last summer. It canvassed anglers to determine what kind of changes theyd like to see. It listed four options and asked anglers which ones they could support.

Bass fishing has undergone quite an evolution the past 50 years.
The Fish That Changed America by Steve PriceIn his new book released this month, The Fish That Changed America, author Steve Price provides insight as to how bass fishing rose to its current level of popularity and tells the story through the eyes of people who helped make it happen.
Price includes chapters that include interviews with lure designers, boat builders and legendary anglers as well as one with Ray Scott, the founder of B.A.S.S and arguably the man who triggered the evolution.
The book covers Michianas role, too, as Price outlines the Heddon Companys development of bass lures. Heddon was founded in Dowagiac, Mich. and the first lure was tested at Mill Pond just outside of town.
An entire chapter was devoted to an interview with the late Trig Lund of Dowagiac, who served as vice president of Heddon for 23 years.
