Support Grows for New Eagle Lake Access

Support is growing for a new access on Eagle and Juno lakes but the battle is expected to be a tough one.
The Eagle Lake Improvement Association has again contracted with an attorney and is expected to raise objections and stall the DNR development as it did with a larger site last fall.
The Michigan would like to purchase another property between the two Cass County lakes near Edwardsburg and will make a presentation of a preliminary site design to the Ontwa Township Planning Commission Feb. 5.
The meeting will be at the township hall, located across from Lunker’s, at 7 p.m. Area sportsmen are urged to attend to show their support and arrive early to get a seat. The hall is small and opponents of the access are expected to show up in force.
Representatives from the Michigan United Conservation Clubs, Michigan Bass Federation, Michiana Walleye Association and other sportsmen groups are expected to voice support for the project at the Feb. 5 meeting.
Fort Wayne Sports Show This Weekend at Memorial Coliseum

Northern Indiana’s ultimate outdoor-turned-indoor experience—the 5th annual Outdoor Sports, Lake & Cabin Show— returns today through Sunday, Jan. 26 at the Fort Wayne Memorial Coliseum.
From the adrenaline junkie and athlete to the traveler and remodeler, the show ties in outdoor interests for all seasons, plus offers entertainment and activities for the whole family.
Over 150 exhibitors will feature the latest products and services relating to biking, hiking, camping and fitness, hunting and fishing, boats and watersports, vacation and travel, recreational vehicles and motorsports, and cottage living.
There will be two large fishing ponds stocked with hundreds of bluegill for that people can fish ($4) with a portion of proceeds benefits St. Jude’s Hospital. Live bait and fishing poles will be provided.
Children can also get a dose of the beach and feel the sand between their toes at the 400 square-foot indoor beach, sponsored by WAJI.
