New Hudson Lake Access OpensNew Hudson Lake Access Opens

You can now launch your boat at the new public boat launch on Hudson Lake in LaPorte County.

The DNR completed construction of the new access and it is now open for public use. Prior to the construction work that began in July, Hudson was Indiana’s largest natural lake without a DNR public access.

That all changed when the DeGroote family donated enough land to accommodate a new access. Indiana relies solely on land donations these days for public access development.

The access is located on the northwest corner of the lake’s backwaters near N. Emery Road. It will include a concrete boat ramp, gravel parking area for approximately 20 vehicles with boat trailers, and an American Disabilities Act (ADA) parking pad with connecting ADA floating pier.

The ramp drops off quickly into deeper water, making it possible to launch larger boats as well as small ones. A path through the lily pad fields has been cut to provide good access to boaters headed out to the main lake.
