Casting Couples Report
Rick and Jennifer Kedik (Niles) had a limit of five bass, including one smallmouth, within the first two hours to win the Casting Couples opener ($270) at Pine and Stone lakes in LaPorte, Ind.
Seventeen teams completed with five limits reported and every team weighed in a keeper bass.
The Kediks upgraded all day long to finish with 10.32 pounds. The key to their success was using a Native Pride swing jig with a Trokar hook topped with an Erie Darter.
John and Marcy Dixon (Elkhart) had a limit early also with five bass weighing 9.93 pounds and take second ($140). The Dixon's used jerkbaits and jigs in 8 foot or less to take home $140.
Jake and Stephanie Lisenko (South Bend) used Native Pride jigs to catch a limit totaling 8.33 and finish fourth ($50). Jake commented that they caught their fifth keeper in the last 15 minutes of the tournament. Loren and Carrie Crosbie (Osceola) caught a limit in the first 90-minutes of the tourney to finish third with 9.84 pounds. The Crosbie's used Finesse worms to catch their limit and earn $100.
Steve and Amy Martin (Constantine, Mich.) rounded out the top five teams that brought in a limit of bass. Martin's total was 8.06 pounds to win them a $10 Gift Certificate to Beef 'O' Brady's in Granger, Ind.
Bigbass honors goes to Mark & Bobbie Flotow (LaPorte) with a 2.60-pound largemouth, earning them $80.
