Chip Harrison (Columbia City) and Brian Whitaker (Warsaw) used Yamamoto Hula Grubs and Spinnerbaits in 10-12 feet of water on Syracuse Lake to bag an 11.26-pound limit and win ($710) the R&B Circuit event on Lake Wawasee. win $710.
They focused on cabbage weedbeds.
"Bluegill were relating to cabbage weeds, which brought the largemouth," said Harrison.
2nd: Kyle Kaser (Plymouth) and Cody Bennett (Plymouth) threw frogs around
lily pads and jigs under docks to weigh 11.06 pounds. The second-place finish won them $420 and earned them 2019 Season Champions honors.
A 5.31-pound largemouth - which was the Lochness Lures Big Bass of the tournament - boosted Steve Kline (Albion) and Mark Farver (Goshen) to a 10.91-pound limit and third-place finish. They won a total of $535.
After catching 3 keepers from Wawasee with 3/8-ounce green pumpkin jigs, Kline and Farver went to Syracuse and caught another keeper on a drop shot rig and the big bass on a ¾-ounce spinnerbait.
