John Gipson teamed up with his grandfather Jim Weaver - 1st Place

John Gipson teamed up with his grandfather Jim Weaver to catch a giant sack and win the Starboard Choice Big Bass Challenge Saturday.

Gipson and Weaver had 20.44 pounds to win $250 and a bonus $60 for having the biggest bass, a 5.39 pounder. They caught their fish off beds and with wacky worms.

Bill Mathews and Kris Iodice - 2nd Place

Bill Mathews and Kris Iodice were second ($150) with 10.48 pounds caught off beds and around fry.

Gaylord Holtrum was third ($80) with 9.33 pounds caught on wacky worms in less than three feet of water.

Another $60 was added to the Classic purse. The next event is June 26 at Diamond Lake from 6 to 2. It will be a “big money” event with a $70 entry fee.
