Lee Duracz and John Gast had the most weight in the Dennis Losee Benefit bass tournament on the St. Joseph River at 6 Span Saturday, but the real winner was the Losee family.

Twenty-three teams showed up to support and provide financial aid for fellow tournament angler Dennis Losee, who suffered a stroke recently and is saddled with major medical bills.

The event raised $3,000 for the Losees through donations and drawings, plus all of the top finishing teams donated their winnings back to the family.
“What an amazing act of generosity,” said Steve and Amy Martin, who spearheaded the fund-raiser. “We thank all the companies who donated money and merchandise, the individuals who gave donations, Kyle Banks for providing our delicious luncheon, and all of the anglers who came out to support Jodi and Dennis Losee today.”
Duracz and Gast had five bass weighing in at 10.88 pounds that included the biggest bass a 3.2-pound largemouth.

Jordan Smith and Derek Kelly 3rd Place
Devin Wright and Ryan Yoder had a limit weighing 9.66 pounds for second while Jordan Smith and Derek Kelly were third with 8.24 pounds. Brad and Clay Sterling finished fourth with 7.38 pounds and Terry Smith and Chad Worvey fifth with 6.62 pounds. Smith and Worvey also secured the junk fish category with a pike weighing in at 4.52 pounds.

Jeff Went and Brandon Helbling won the prize for having the smallest bass that weighed 0.26 pounds.
