Mark Hamman and Nate Collins - 1st Place
Mark Hamman and Nate Collins wasted no time putting the winning fish in the boat during the Tackle Shack Fall Brawl last weekend on the St. Joseph River at 6 Span Bridge.
“We had our first fish on the third cast while boats were still flying by,” said Hamman. “We had a limit in the first half hour.”
That quick start led them to 11.39 pounds and the $2,400 first place check.
They caught their fish on A-rigs and culled a couple of times. When the A-rig bite died, they caught their biggest fish on a jerkbait. They headed to the dam area, culled once more, but said they never caught a fish on anything other than the A-rig and jerkbait.
Jason Fowler and Ron Fabiszak - 2nd Place
Jason Fowler and Ron Fabiszak were second ($1,400) with 9.62 pounds. As one of the last boats out at take-off, they started on an up-river spot and caught three small keepers on Ned rigs. They left there and moved down towards the dam where most of the field was fishing and caught four on a Ned rig and swimbait. They said they caught a total of 15 keepers.
Jeremy Bunnell and Eben Lambert - 3rd Place
Lee Duracz and Terry Burgess - 4th Place
Jeremy Bunnell and Eben Lambert say they used their electronics to find fish on key structure and finished third ($900) with 9.50 pounds caught on A-rigs while Lee Duracz and Terry Burgess were fourth ($500) with 9.37 pounds caught on Ned rigs and small jigs on seawalls.
Andy Buss and Kerry Frey - 5th Place
Andy Buss and Kerry Frey finished fifth ($380) with 9.23 pounds caught from deep water on blade baits, A-rigs and drop-shot rigs.
Danny Mohan and Zach McNary - Big Bass
Danny Mohan and Zach McNary won the Str8-up Mounts big bass prize ($1,000) with a 3.61-pound smallmouth caught on an A-rig.
The tournament, which drew 44 boats, was sponsored by Tackle Shack, Str8-Up Mounts, Bite Me Tackle and Mullet Batteries.
