An end-of-the-day stop produced big bass during the D&R Sports’ West Michigan Bass Series on Lake St. Clair Sunday and helped Garrett and Nolan Mandel to victory.

The winners had 21.46 pounds total, anchored by a 4.69 pounder. They won $1,350 plus a bonus $490 for big bass.

"We fished 12-15 feet all day in the grass with a drop-shot and a Ned rig and got lucky at the end of the day,” said Garrett. “We stopped on one spot in the river and caught what ended up being big bass. We just let the day happen and only scoped one. We just kept our heads down and covered a lot of water but the bite was crazy tough and a lot of fish still need to put some weight back on."
