Big bass were cooperating in the Michiana Fishing League’s season opener Sunday at Webster Lake and they were eating bladed jigs and swimbaits.
There were 16 teams competing and it took more than 15 pounds to finish in the top five, with Shawn Christopher and Chris Stamm winning with 19.22 pounds, topped by a 4.68-pound kicker.
Dustin Hamilton and Carl Peiper were second with 17.44 pounds. Their big bass weighed 4.82 pounds.
John Davis and Seth Spaulding were third with 17.16 pounds but also won big bass honors with a 5.10 largemouth.
Scott and LeAnn Sizemore grabbed the fourth spot with 16.54 pounds while Devon Fry and Steve Kline were fifth with 15.9 pounds.
