Is there a better angler in Michiana than Bill Mathews?
The dude continues to win, taking home the Southwest Michigan Anglers Club (SMAC) two-day Classic on Burt and Mullet Lakes over the weekend.
Mathews fished alone and had a two-day total of 42.10 pounds of smallmouth. He fished A-rigs and drop-shot rigs while using forward facing sonar (FFS) in 10 to 15 feet of water.

Dan Baerwald and Kyle Learner also used FFS to catch 41.86 pounds. They used Ned rigs and A-rigs in 10-12 feet of water.

Third went to Tanner Hursh and Hailey Dodd who used FFS to catch 40.67. They also had big bass of the tournament with a 6.92-pound smallmouth. They used tube jigs and swimbaits in 6 to 10 feet.

Derek Kelly had the biggest bass on day 2 with a 6.10-pound smallmouth.
There were 11 smallmouth weighed in over the two days that topped the scales by 5 pounds or more. The top five places were dominated by anglers utilizing FFS.
