Michiana Singles Report
Kyle Kaser - 1st Place
Kyle Kaser fished shallow water to win the Michiana Singles Bass Circuit final regular season event in a shoot-out on Eagle Lake.
Kaser had 13.40 pounds and a 4.36-pound largemouth that also won him big bass honors. He said he used a wide variety of lures to catch his fish in shallow water and take home of $240. Kaser also had a 3-pound-plus smallmouth that he said he sight fished.Â
Every team weighed in a limit.
Scott Crocker - 2nd Place
Scott Crocker had 9.92 pounds for second and that included the second largest bass in the event, a 3.04-pound largemouth. Crocker said he fished jigs in 4-12 feet to earn $80.
Brent Burgess - 3rd Place
Third place went to Brent Burgess with 9.62 pounds. He fished jigs in 8 to 10 feet.
The Michiana Singles Classic will be held on Pawpaw Lake and the St. Joseph River at Benton Harbor Oct.12-13.
Casting Couples Report
Loren and Carrie Crosbie - 1st Place
Loren and Carrie Crosbie had a limit and second biggest bass of the day to win the Casting Couples last tournament of the year on chilly, wind-blown Diamond Lake Saturday.
The Crosbies had 11.90 pounds that included a 4.22-pound largemouth. They fished in 10-20 feet using jigs and Butchers Baits to earn $260.
Ryan and Alyssa Yoder - 2nd Place
Ryan and Alyssa Yoder's limit of five bass totaled 10.90 pounds for second place and they had the big bass of the event with a 4.66-pound largemouth. Alyssa caught the big one on a crankbait first thing in the morning.
The Yoders used crankbaits and jigs to take home a total of $170. They also won the Casting Couples of the Year title, edging out the Millers by one point.
John and Heather Miller - 3rd Place
Third place went to John and Heather Miller with a 9.9- pound limit. They said they fished drop-shot rigs most of the time to earn $70.
LMBT Report
Chris Hubbard and Tim Lusher - 1st Place
Chris Hubbard and Tim Lusher came in with an impressive sack at the Little Money Bass Tournament (LMBT) on the St. Joseph River at Maggies Landing.
Hubbard and Lusher had 14 pounds, 10 ounces that included the biggest bass of the tourney, a 4-1 largemouth. They caught their fish on jigs.
Don Miles and Dave Dowden - 2nd Place
Don Miles and Dave Dowden were second with 12-3 caught on Jigs and Senkos.Â
Steve Martin and John Dixon - 3rd Place
Steve Martin and John Dixon placed third with 12-3 caught on jigs.
The tournament drew 15 boats, and eight of those came to the weigh-in with bags over 10 pounds and there were 11 limits.
The next event is the Classic on Sept. 28 at Gull Lake for those who qualified.
Butcher Baits Report
Bill Mathews and Kris Iodice - 1st Place
Bill Mathews and Kris Iodice continued their dominance at Diamond Lake, winning the Butchers Baits season ending Sunday League tournament Sunday.
They had 14.13 and big bass of the event with 4.02 pounds. They caught their fish using swim jigs and Senkos.
Jeremy Siler and Brock Howell - 2nd Place
Jeremy Siler and Brock Howell were second with 10.13 pounds by fishing crankbaits.
Third place went to Manny Schwartz and Dennis Hochstetler with 10.10 pounds. They fished jigs.
The Classic will be held at Gull Lake Sept. 22 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Teams that participated in at least six regular season events qualified for the Classic.
Rick Kedik announced Monday that he will host will host a Casting Couples benefit tournament at Magician Lake Sunday.
Entry fee is $60 for two-person or one man teams. Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 1:30.
A portion of the proceeds will go toward the Casting Couples Classic.
