The Morrison team of Rick Jr. and Rick Sr. won the Southwest Michigan Anglers Club (SMAC) weeknight season opener on Magician Lake last week with a five-fish limit weighing 10.49 pounds.
The winners used Ned rigs in 10 feet or less water.
Mike VanderReyden and Brett Gessinger were second with a 10.18 limit caught on tubes. They also had big bass, a 3.70 pounder.
Third place went to Matt Gordon and Trevor Paulus with 9.09 pounds caught on tubes while Dan Baerwald and Herman Berry were fourth with 8.39 pounds.
SMAC’s weekend opener is on Cory Lake June 14. Tournament hours are 6 a.m. to noon.

EUFAULA, Ala. - After the longest unplanned break in B.A.S.S. history due to COVID-19 precautions, the Bassmaster Elite Series will resume tournament action next week.
Perhaps fittingly, the schedule's restart point will be at one of the most storied lakes in professional bass fishing history.
The DEWALT Bassmaster Elite at Lake Eufaula will feature competition Wednesday through Saturday, with daily takeoffs at 5:25 a.m. CST from Lakepoint State Park and weigh-ins back at the park each day at 2 p.m.

Fort Worth, Lake Ray Roberts to Host 2021 Bassmaster Classic
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - For just the third time in the event's storied history, the 2021 Academy Sports + Outdoors Bassmaster Classic will be coming to Texas.
The eyes of Texas ó and the world ó will be watching March 19-21, 2021 as the Super Bowl of Professional Bass Fishing heads to Fort Worth with fishing taking place at Lake Ray Roberts in nearby Denton.
It will mark the first time Fort Worth will host the Bassmaster Classic, as well as the first time a major B.A.S.S. tournament has been held on this fishery.
"There are very few firsts in the world of sports," said Chase Anderson, Chairman of B.A.S.S. "We can't wait to have a historic first when fishing's biggest stage comes to Fort Worth. Our fans, sponsors and anglers are sure to be in for an incredible experience."

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — After announcing schedules for the Elite Series and Basspro.com Bassmaster Opens Series last week, B.A.S.S. unveiled revised event dates for the remaining events on their 2020 tournament schedule.
Sixteen Bassmaster Tournament Series events originally scheduled between March and May had to be rescheduled, but officials highlighted that the new schedules allow for the full tournament circuit to be completed this year.
“We are excited to get back to the fun of tournament fishing in a safe and responsible way,” said Jon Stewart, B.A.S.S. Nation Tournament Director. “We appreciate our local hosts and staff, who worked diligently to find new dates so that every angler who has looked forward to this season can compete.”
B.A.S.S. has emphasized that it will heed each state’s mandates on crowd sizes and public spaces as well as monitor federal guidelines to ensure both competition and fan activities can resume safely. These sentiments were echoed by officials in the tournament host communities.
“We are confident in our ability to host a safe event in August. Everyone involved is committed to being prudent in our planning, making the changes that are necessary to adhere to the safety guidelines in place at that time,” said Mark Jeanneret, Executive Director of the Erie Sports Commission, local host for the B.A.S.S. Nation Northeast Regional Championship.
As schools around the country resume in late-summer, competition will also resume for college, high school and junior anglers.

Michiana tournament anglers are going to have to enjoy fun fishing for a while longer.
The Indiana DNR announced on its website Wednesday that all tournaments on public and private property remain prohibited until June 14.
Michigan’s bass season doesn’t open until May 23 but the Governor’s “Stay at Home” order runs until May 28 and likely will be extended.
Michigan is in Phase 3 of her 6-Phase Reopen plan. If Covid-19 cases and deaths show noticeable decline near the end of the month, she could move to Phase 4 which allows “small gatherings” but doesn’t define what that means.
