Power-Pole AnchorsPower-Pole Anchors

Ever have that sinking feeling? You know the one you had on windy days before you had a Power-Pole Shallow Water Anchor on your boat. Remember drifting into that big school of redfish or past that favorite patch of lily pads full of big bass. Make sure you are ready for that perfect shot! Instead of blaming the product, know that the maintenance of your gear and keeping it a well-oiled machine is your responsibility as an angler and boater.

Here are six tips to keep your Power-Pole Shallow Water Anchor in top shape and keep you in the game:

  1. BASIC EYE TEST – Make sure all connections to the battery and the on/off switch are tight and free of corrosion. Check the in-line fuse holder and fuse by opening the cap and looking for corrosion or moisture on the connections. Replace if necessary. To combat moisture, mount the fuse holder in an upright position to make sure the holder stays moisture free.
  2. KEEP THE FLOW – Check all hydraulic connections and the reservoir fill cap to make sure they are tight and leak free. After initial installation, fittings should be leak free for the life of the product, but it never hurts to check. Ensure that the level of Green Marine biodegradable hydraulic fluid is sufficiently between the maximum and minimum fill lines and is free of contaminants.
  3. NUTS AND BOLTS – Scan the hardware of the product. It is recommended that the lower two pivot bolts on every Power-Pole model be tightened at least every 100 cycles. All anchors manufactured after 2012 will take a 9/16” wrench and socket, and most anchors made prior to 2012 will take a 0.5” wrench and socket. Tighten the pivot bolts flush with the lock not and do not overtighten.
  4. INSPECT THE SPIKE – Give a visual once-over to ensure the Power-Pole spike is free of damage, cracks, large splinters or other dings and such. The Power-Pole Everflex® spike has a lifetime warranty, so If there is any damage, call Power-Pole customer service to obtain a free replacement.
  5. UPDATE SOFTWARE – Download the free C-Monster App from Google Play or the Apple App Store and make sure your Power-Pole C-Monster firmware is up to date. If you have any issues updating your C-Monster App, you can always contact our tech support by phone or Live Chat.
  6. RINSE AND REPEAT – All Power-Pole products are built for saltwater, but it is always a good idea to thoroughly rinse all moving parts with fresh water after each use.

Hit this checklist so that you can feel confident every time you head out on the water.
