Kim StrickerKim Stricker

Michigan anglers Bruce DeShano and Kim Stricker are two of 10 persons inducted into the 2020 class of the National Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame.

DeShano owns OffShore Tackle, a trolling board and trolling-orientated company. He got his start many years ago trolling for salmon and trout and later built products that catered to the Great Lakes trolling community that also become popular among walleye anglers. DeShano is an accomplished angler as well and has won many tournaments on the Great Lakes.

Kim Stricker has been the host and producer of the “Hook n’ Look” television program (Outdoor Channel) since its inception where he educates viewers from a unique fish-eye perspective. His underwater explorations of lakes, rivers and reservoirs across the country over the past 10 years have enlightened both novice and seasoned professional anglers alike. Stricker’s show offers informative content about the habits and habitat of several freshwater species and captures the action and effectiveness of a wide variety of lures.

Stricker is a 27-year veteran of both the Bassmasters and FLW Tours. He won the 1994 Bassmaster Michigan Top 100 and scoring a good handful of Top 10 finishes. He has also qualified for the Bassmaster Classic and FLW Championships and has represented industry sponsors throughout his career.

Other inductees include Roger Gant (Mississippi), a 30-year crappie guide on Pickwick Lake; Jim McDonnell (Iowa), a longtime fishing guide and seminar speaker who founded the Iowa Great Lakes Fishing Club in 1967; Captain Ted Peck (Wisconsin), who guided Illinois and Wisconsin for several years; Terry Peterson (Wisconsin), a fishing guide on the Hayward, Wisc. lakes; Duane Raver (North Carolina), one of the country’s most prolific fish and wildlife artists; Gordon H. Reeves (Oregon), a research fish biologist at the Pacific Northwest Research Station; Tommy Skarlis (Iowa), a touring walleye and crappie fishing professional who fishes for all species; and Alvin Staffan (Ohio); a wildlife artist.

The Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame and Museum located in Hayward, Wisc. is the international headquarters for education, recognition and promotion of fresh water sportfishing.
