Michiana Singles Report
Wow! Paw Paw Lake keeps cranking out big catches as proven by the Michiana Singles Open tourney held on Father’s Day.
Despite the lake receiving tremendous fishing pressure since spring, there were 18 limits and 112 bass weighed in by 24 teams. Of those, 11 bass were over three pounds and three over 4.
In addition to the good fishing, Tournament Director Rick Kedik and wife Jennifer treated competitors to a cookout following the weigh-in.

Mike and Zach Burtetle took home $480 for first place with a limit weighing 20.69 pounds. Their bag included a 5.22-pound largemouth that won them the $115 big bass honor.
They said they used a wide variety of baits, including wacky worms, Ned rigs, topwater and jigs along the weed edge.

Dakota Vanweelden was second ($330) with 17.51 pounds caught on jigs while scoping in 20 feet.

Third went to John Gipson and Evan DeLaRose with 16.73 pounds. Gipson and DeLaRose used jigs along the bank but also used forward facing sonar (FFS) in 30 feet to earn $210.

Andrew Krintz had 15.99 pounds for fourth ($140). He also used jigs with his FFS.

Fifth ($95) went to Larry and Tanner Hursh who used swimbaits with FFS in 20 to 30 feet to catch 15.41 pounds, all smallmouth.

Mann S. and Denise H (no last names provided) won Butchers Baits shirts and tackle packs for having the second biggest bass, a 4.73-pound largemouth.
The next Michiana Singles event is July 26th at Klinger Lake, from 6 to noon. Kedik urges anglers to arrive early due to parking issues. Call him at Rick 269-240-4917 if you have any questions.
