Kyle and Michael Kaser (Plymouth) amassed a 13.20-pound limit on a bitterly cold May 14 to win the R&B Circuit West Division tournament on Tippecanoe Lake.
Included in their bag was the second biggest bass of the day, a 3.90-pound largemouth that they plucked off of a bed. The big fish was fooled by an Xtreme Bass Tackle Tube, although the majority of their fish were caught with a stop-and-go retrieve they used on Strike King Red Eye Shads in bluegill colors. The victory earned them $627, a Rod Bender Baits certificate, plus the big fish added another $55, making their total winnings $682.
Mark Farver (Goshen) and Steve Kline (Albion) put together a 12.59-pound limit to finish second. Their catch was complimented with the biggest bass of the event, a 4.74-pound largemouth. They took home a cool $595. Farver and Kline worked Critter Craws on the outside edge of weeds.
Tom Noe (Benton Harbor) and John Gipson, Jr. (Battle Ground, Ind.) brought in 10.15 pounds to the scales for third place ($220). Bed fish were on their minds early, and in little time they secured a limit, but it weighed a paltry 6 pounds. They adjusted by throwing a bluegill-colored chatterbait with a Missile Baits Shockwave as a trailer. That decision paid off, as their better fish came off this set up.
