Hensley Wins Top 8 on St. Joe River

Brian Hensley, Top 8 Winner

Brian Hensley (Edwardsburg, IN) won the IBF Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance Hosted by the UAW Zone 1 Top 8 on the St. Joseph River at Maggies Landing last week.

He took five fish to the scales both Saturday and Sunday that weighed 14.33 pounds. Close behind was Darin Bongiovanni (Granger, IN) in second with 14.22 pounds. Chris Howe (Osceola, IN) was third with 14.08 pounds and John Fuchs (Mishawaka, IN) had 13.78 pounds to finish fourth. The four of them qualified for the TBF Semi-Finals to be held in September on the Ohio River at Tell City, IN.

Big bass honors in boater division went to Bongiovanni on day 1 with a 3.81 pounder and Clint Mahler (Hobart, Ind.) of the Fish Lake Bass Masters with a 3.87 pounder on day two. In the co-angler division, Fuchs had the biggest fish on Saturday (3.61 pounds) while Jamie Young (Elkhart) of Fish Lake Bass Masters had a 3.06 on day two.

The event which is also a team tournament for 10 Indiana Bass Federation clubs from northwest Indiana. Each club can send 8 anglers to the event. Fish Lake Bass Masters from the Porter County area took home team honors with a two day total of 75.21 pounds. Mid-Indiana Anglers with members from Edwardsburg, MI to Kokomo, IN was second with 68.84 pounds. Best 5 Bass Club from the Michiana area was third with 66.61 pounds and Potato Creek Bass Club, also from Michiana, was fourth with 64.22 pounds.
