Griva and Klavinski win $2,000 in R&B Classic.

Darwin "Bear" Griva (Angola) and Mike Klavinski (Hudson) used pink finesse worms on lightweight Carolina rigs to accumulate a 17.39-pound limit of largemouth bass and win the R&B Circuit Classic last week on White Lake.

The Classic brought together East and West Division leaders and paid out $7,800.

The winners worked their rigs in 10 to 15 feet of water on "hard" areas along a weed line. Their limit included the biggest bass of the day, a 5.78-pound beast. They won $2,000 and another $250 for the big bass.

Denny Cook (Auburn) and Rick Sawyer (Albion) used 3/8-ounce jigs to catch a 16.65-pound limit of largemouth to win $1,200. The weight of the jig was critical as they failed to score with 1/4 jigs, but landed 14 keepers when they switched to the heavier 3/8 ounce to effectively rip them through the weeds.

John Hall (Fort Wayne) and John Marquardt (Angola) put their Talons down in 6 feet of water on a main-lake point and kept them down for the duration of the tournament. They dead-sticked shaky head rigs with a variety of worms to scrounge up a 14.27-pound limit and claim the $1,000 third-place prize.
