Jason Dittmar and Dave Eggers (North Liberty) had five bass totaling 10.19 pounds to win the Southwest Michigan Anglers Club (SMAC) weekend event on Klinger Lake last week.

The winners ($330) used Erie Darters and crankbaits.

Second place ($200) went to Joe Dimarzio (Granger) and Bryan McLenore (Osceola) who had 10.07 pounds caught on jigs and tubes while Mike Mays and Mike Banger (Elkhart) had 9.9 pounds for third ($120). Mays and Banger also won the big bass prize ($100) for a 3.56 pounder. Most of their fish came on jigs.

In the weeknight event on the St. Joseph River at Niles, Scott Crocker and Chad Wovey (Niles) won with three smallmouth totaling 6.46 pounds. They also took big bass honors with a 2.36-pound bass. They fished jigs in heavy current.

Danny Linn (South Bend) and Rick Kedik (Niles) were third with 2.83 pounds caught on jigs around wood. Rob Swim and Kimm Stewart (Niles) had 2.25 pounds fooled on tubes in river eddies.
