Ed Szymczak (Osceola) and Dallas Dunn (Indianapolis) won the Michiana Walleye Association Innovative Anglers Group Challenge at Winona Lake last weekend.

The winners had 5.67 pounds caught by jigging chartreuse jigs tipped with crawlers near weed beds in 7- to 10-feet of water.

Don Shelton (Berrien Center) and Dwight Jones (Mishawaka) were second with 5.26 pounds, also caught on chartreuse jigs tipped with crawlers along 15 foot drop-offs. They also captured the ClearH2O Tackle Big Fish Award with a 3.68- pound walleye.

Keith Myrick (Stevensville, Mich.) and Julius Mckee (Benton Harbor) jigged leaches along 16-foot drop-offs to finish third with 3.46 pounds.

Jim Molnar Jr. (South Bend) and Jim Molnar Sr. (South Bend) were fourth and won Trailmaster Trailer Award.

It was a tougher-than-normal bite as it usually takes 10 to 12 pounds to win a walleye event at Winona.
