Heavy winds, clouds and rain hampered fishing for the 22 teams competing on Lake Tippecanoe in the "River Wednesdays Classic" last weekend.

Brian Hensley and Mike Minix (Edwardsburg, Mich.) only caught an 8.11-pound limit, but it was good enough for them to take home the $1,400 first place title. The anglers said they caught their fish on drop-shot rigs in 20 feet of water.

Teddy Bradley and Tom Bell (Mishawaka) were second ($900) with 7.21 pounds caught on drop-shot rigs and Erie Darters rigged on 1/2-ounce D's Grub Heads.

The father-and-son team of Aaron and Trae Brubaker (Elkhart) had four fish weighing 6 pounds for third ($700). They caught their fish on Senkos and crankbaits.

Donald Miles and Frank Adams (Elkhart) caught only three fish weighing 5.90 pounds for fourth place but they still earned $1,000 because their sack included the biggest bass of the tournament, a 2.96 pounder. They caught everything on 1/2-ounce Lock Jaw Jigs. Mark Fennell (LaGrange, Ind.) and Curtiss Werner (Osceola) had second biggest bass (2.90) caught on a Spro Frog topwater lure.

The husband and wife team of Charles and Dianna Campbell (Osceola) were fifth ($300) with 4.99 pounds.
