Plano’s Premium Edge Lure Boxes Provide Added Benefits
For some, fishing is a way of life. It's hours spent studying charts, memorizing holes, points, and structure and checking forecasts days in advance of a trip. Top anglers meticulously organize tackle for fast access, tie on baits with precision and care, and do whatever it takes to give them an edge.
With anglers like this in mind, Plano obliterates the status quo of tackle storage by giving dedicated anglers what they deserve, the EDGE. Plano's new EDGE is the most technologically advanced tackle storage system to date.
The EDGE family consists of ten boxes and each of them are loaded with features of which every angler has dreamed. Two years in the making and countless hours of research and development led to a tackle storage system that solves every major storage problem an angler may encounter.
The EDGE is built on the familiar Plano 3600 and 3700 Stowaway footprints. Four EDGE boxes are built for general storage in either standard, thin, or deep box configurations.
Starting with its Duraview™ crystal-clear lid, the EDGE Series makes identifying baits and terminal tackle a fast affair. No more opening and closing multiple boxes to find a lure or bait. When closed, the Dri-Loc™ watertight seal makes a barrier that moisture that cannot penetrate. Another unique feature of the Plano EDGE is the new patent-pending, one-handed latch. Unlike most waterproof Stowaway's that have three latches, the EDGE line has one, oversized latch that can be opened simply with just one hand. Durable, steel-pin hinges finish off the rugged lid and marry it to the EDGE's base for years of use.
Plano's new exclusive Rustrictor™ anti-corrosion compound is infused into the base of all EDGE boxes. Rustrictor™ prevents terminal tackle and expensive baits from corroding. Water WickTM provides further corrosion defense from a water absorbing desiccant divider, giving EDGE one two punch against rust and corrosion.
Patent-pending, pre-separated, vented dividers allow for air circulation. They are also recess into the base of the box so that terminal tackle and smaller items don't migrate throughout the box. The EDGE also features an innovative labeling system on the latch of every box.

Shimano Report
New Shimano SKIXX Musky Rods
Fishing for freshwater’s apex predator is always a marathon, never a sprint. It’s casting big lures with big, powerful reels and rods that take a toll on an all-day fishing adventure. While they won’t make a musky follow or engulf your lure, Shimano’s new SKIXX rods offer a slew of performance features, most notably the combination of Spiral X and Hi-Power X blank construction, to provide an edge for more success.
Offered in seven casting models in sizes from a heavy power eight-footer up to an extra-heavy power nine-foot-six, the new SKIXX musky rods will officially be introduced on January 23 at the Chicagoland Fishing, Travel & Outdoor Expo at the Schaumburg Convention Center. Noted ‘musky hunter’ Jim Saric – who played an integral part in developing the new rods, will be in the Shimano booth at various times during the show to talk musky fishing and about the new SKIXX series.
Shimano’s latest advancement in fishing rod technology – first showcased in its saltwater rods – gives anglers the ability for both longer and more accurate casts, increased fish-fighting ‘catching’ power and control, along with added blank durability. According to Trey Epich with Shimano’s product development team, Spiral X provides foundational basic structure to the rod, where an inner and outer layer of high-strength carbon infinity tape is tightly wrapped diagonally in opposite directions with a vertical sheet of carbon material in between. This allows Shimano to build thin, strong, and lightweight blanks that prevent rod twist to improve casting distance, accuracy and control, and also prevents blank ovalization for better lifting power and blank strength.

Lowrance’s New Brushless Trolling Motor is Quiet and Powerful
Lowrance, a leader in fishing electronics since 1957, announced the new Lowrance Ghost freshwater trolling motor.
Reliable, rugged and built to last, the new ultra-quiet Lowrance Ghost freshwater trolling motor helps anglers fish longer, run faster and get in closer without making a sound. Ghost has a newly designed brushless motor with the most thrust and the longest run time of any trolling motor on the market, plus other benefits including integrated Lowrance sonar options, waypoint anchoring and a three-year warranty. The combination of reliability, power, efficiency and quiet performance give the Ghost trolling motor a winning combination that ticks all the boxes for what anglers want in a premium trolling motor.
“Because Ghost is Lowrance's first trolling motor, we started completely from scratch, which gave us a unique opportunity to ask anglers what was most important to them in a trolling motor,” said Lucas Steward, Navico’s Trolling Motor Product Group Owner. “To get the quality we needed, we had to design and build it in-house. That resulted in the production of a trolling motor that delivers exactly what our consumers want: the most power, greatest efficiency and quietest performance – the ultimate trolling motor versatile enough to fit any bass boat.”
MotorGuide Report
MotorGuide Tour Cable-Steer Motor
MotorGuide has announced the introduction of two new trolling motors, Tour and Tour Pro.
Tour Pro is the very first true cable steer motor with GPS anchor in the industry.
“We are excited about the launch of The Tour and Tour Pro,” said Kevin Read, MotorGuide senior product manager. “MotorGuide has been on the water since 1947 and we can officially say with these motors: The Tour is Back! These motors have been redesigned from prop to pedal to be the highest performing trolling motors on the market.”
Both Tour and Tour Pro are built for tough conditions with a full 360-degree breakaway mount with integrated bounce buster and a rugged two-piece shaft with metal outer column and composite inner shaft. In addition, both models include a no-flex metal foot pedal that provides the most solid steering in the market. Tour Pro models combine Pinpoint GPS, the most accurate GPS anchor available, with traditional pull-pull stainless steel cables for smooth, responsive steering.
“Our new Tour Series will be the only trolling motors that offer the responsiveness and durability of a true cable steer motor with all the benefits of GPS anchoring,” Read said. “MotorGuide continues to make the most durable, reliable, and easy to use trolling motors on the market so you can make the most of your time on the water.”
The new motors will include MotorGuide’s Zero-G lift assist system, which requires half of the effort compared to the competition, as well as the new Katana propeller – a Mercury designed two-blade weedless prop that delivers more power and up to 30% more battery efficiency than previous props.
Both models also offer options for MotorGuide’s new HD+ universal sonar with both traditional 2D views and high-definition down looking views compatible with most major fishfinder brands. “We believe in giving our customers the freedom to connect to their fishfinder of choice,” Read said. “Our new HD+ sonar technology will offer compatibility with all major sonar brands so you aren’t limited to just one option.”
In addition to sonar compatibility, Tour Pro models with integrated PinPoint GPS also offer chartplotter integration for connecting to Lowrance, Simrad and Mercury Vessel view displays for autopilot and navigation control.
Tour and Tour Pro are offered in 82 or 109-pound thrust models, at either 24 or 36 volts with 45-inch shafts.
