SMAC Report

Not only did the father and son team of Brad and Clay Sterling blow away the Southwest Michigan Anglers Club opener on Paw Paw Lake, but they did it with a giant bass.

The Sterlings weighed in 20.88 pounds with a five-fish limit and their 6.37-pound largemouth took home the big bass pot as well.
They caught most of their fish on drop-shot rigs in 2 to 4 feet, but the big bass came on a Ned rig.

Terry Smith and Scott Crocker were second with 16.62 pounds. Crocker said they fished ½-ounce jigs and wacky worms in 3 to 12 feet of water.

Tanner Hursh and girlfriend Hailey Dodd were third with a 16.10-pound limit of smallmouth. They said they used jigs and drop-shot rigs in 2 to 10 feet of water.
There were 99 bass weighing 284.43 pounds caught and 20 were smallmouth.
The next event is Saturday at Magician Lake.
