Adam Crocker and Danny Linn (Niles) won the Southwest Michigan Anglers Club Wednesday night event on Diamond Lake this week.
The duo had five fish weighing 8.35 pounds on a tough night. They caught their fish in 6 to 20 feet of water on crankbaits.
Steve & Kelly Droff (Cassopolis) were second with 6.88 pounds (four bass) caught on wacky rigs in 6-8 feet of water. Dan Posey and Dan Fine (Niles) were third with three fish weighing 6.50 pounds, including the big bass of the tournament, a 2.61 largemouth. The big fish came on a double skirted grub while the others came on tubes in 8 to 10 feet of water.
Hunter and Mark Zona won the Southwest Michigan Anglers Club (SMAC) tournament on Klinger Lake last weekend with five bass weighing 13.27 pounds.
The winners ($315) caught their fish from water depths ranging from 2-32 feet on Strike King Jigs.
Brian Spear (Eau Claire) and John McCauslin (Niles) caught 12 pounds 4 ounces to win the Clear H2o Big Bass Challenge last weekend on Van Auken Lake.
The winners ($160) caught their fish in 6 to 10 feet of water and pocketed $160.
Ken Holder (South Bend) and Derek Deardorff (Mishawaka) were second ($100) with 11 pounds.
The big bass pot ($35) went to Jeff Biggart (Benton Harbor) and Taryn Yore (Watervliet) for a 4 pound, 5-ouncer.
The next event is July 12 on Pipestone Lake. 6:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Entry fee is $45.
Scott and Malire Woods - 1st PlaceThe father/daughter team of Scott (Elkhart) and Malire Woods (South bend) had the only limit of the day on Magician Lake to win a recent Casting Couples event with 8.45 pounds.
The winners used drop-shot rigs and Yamamoto Grubs in 8-10 feet of water.
Mark and Suzette Michael - 2nd PlaceMark and Suzette Michael (Union City, Mich.) were second with four keepers weighing 6.44 pounds. They fished Roboworms on drop-shots in 10-15 of water.
Adam and Kate Doyle - 3rd PlaceAdam and Kate Doyle (Coloma, Mich.) were third with 4.11 pounds caught on Ataak Custom Baits. They also won big bass with a 2.69-pound largemouth.

Ron Nelson of Berrien Springs fished alone and caught five fish weighing 13.02 to win the Southwest Michigan Anglers Club (SMAC) event on Diamond Lake Sunday.
Diamond Lake is best known for tough fishing and small fish, but the event produced several limits and there were four fish brought to the scales weighing more than three pounds.
Nelson, who won $345 for first place, also had the biggest bass, a 3.32-pound largemouth, worth an additional $120. He said he fished worms and jigs in 5 to 7 feet of water, while the big fish came on a wacky worm.
